This piece is part of the film music for the experimental movie Broken Birds. The movie is about obsession. It is also the first movie that I composed music for.
In this particular scene we observe two men. The one smoking heavily cigarettes and filling the whole room with his smoke. The other is visibly irritated by the smoke but cannot bring up the courage to stop the smoker. Instead he is hoping that the smoker notices by himself how much he is bothering the other. The scene peaks when the smoke is constantly becoming thicker and the obsessed again collapses.
In the music I have tried to play the smoke, which is slowly filling the whole room. Also of course the affected man's irritation and anger. And his frustration that he cannot bring up the courage to stop the other even though he wishes it so much. With the increasing density of the smoke the music becomes denser as well.
