Well, well, well. This goes back a long time.
In the late 80-ties there was a very unique game around, called »Captain Blood«. In the game you were a dying cyborg who tries to find five of his duplicates. He wanted to use their bodies to prolong his own life.
So you would fly around the galaxy with your bio space ship, meeting dozens of aliens, talking to them and finding out the whereabouts of your duplicates.
Having all that said I should add that when I played this game I didn't know all that. In fact, I only had a French version for some reason. I don't speak french, and I basically had no clue of what was going on.
Still, I remember this game because it had such a wonderful atmosphere. I think subconsciously I captured that when I composed »Captain Blood«.
Today I got a copy of the game in a language that I can understand. I am actually thrilled to try it out and see what's it's all about. Will I finally understand the game? We will see!
